A complete visual identity redesign for TrackR, a mobile app for tracking manga and anime, carried out by ummni. for a client: a new mobile-first logo, a pink and black palette and a modernised interface.
The project
An app so you never forget what you watch.
A client is developing a mobile app to track your progress - first in manga and anime, with plans to expand to films and TV series.
The request: an app with a carefully crafted design, able to stand out in a market where competitors display dark, disorganised themes.
The positioning
Stance
Clarity,
warmth,
breathing room.
Where the market bets on dark, TrackR chooses the opposite.
Pink + black
The two main colours of the new identity. Pink brings sunny, comforting touches; black provides structure without ever weighing things down - a deliberate break from the market’s dark codes.
The visual system
A complete redesign, from logo to interface.
-

Lessons learned
Standing out sometimes means doing the opposite of everyone else.
The tracking-app market unanimously bet on dark and dense. Choosing clarity and warmth was not obvious - it was a bet on what users really prefer to feel when opening the app every day.
